Thomas Dioguardi

–

Avon, New York

Thomas Dioguardi, 83, of Avon, NY, passed away peacefully at home on September 27, 2026, surrounded by the family he so deeply loved.

Born on September 15, 1943, Tom was a proud first-generation Italian-American. He honorably served his country as a veteran of the United States Army and later dedicated many years of hard work as a skilled machinist until his retirement. Growing up, Tom worked in his family’s grocery store in Avon, stepping up to help his mother run the business following his father's early passing.

Tom's greatest legacy is his family. He is survived by his wife and constant companion of 60 years, Sydney Dioguardi; their two children, TJ (Barbara) Dioguardi and Kristin (John) Wolcik; his cherished grandchildren, Rachel (Tyler) Wright, Emily (fiancé Tyler) Dioguardi, Sarah Dioguardi, and Courtney (Tim) Voos; and his adored great-grandchildren, Tyler, Nathan, and Lauren. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas Dioguardi, his mother, Angeline Dioguardi, and his brothers, Jack, Jim, and Joe.

A devoted family man, Tom would do absolutely anything to ensure the happiness of his loved ones. Though he notoriously did not enjoy camping, he never missed a family camping trip. Instead, he turned those trips into lasting memories by teaching his granddaughters how to make perfect pizzas while he enjoyed a glass of wine. He was also a passionate keeper of family history, always eager to pass down stories to the next generations.

Tom was a lifetime member of the Farview Golf Course alongside his wife. He possessed a deep love for the game, which he joyfully passed down to his children by teaching them how to play. From 1989 to 1993, Tom and his son shared their mutual love for sports by owning and operating a baseball card store in Avon, spending many weekends traveling to card conventions. His dedication to youth sports extended to the community, where he spent years coaching both of his children and later became the ultimate fan in the stands, never missing an opportunity to watch his grandchildren play.

When he wasn’t on the golf course or cheering on his favorite New York Yankees, Tom could often be found admiring his prized 1959 Studebaker Silver Hawk. His warmth, dedication, and unconditional love will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Stephenson-Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 350 Genesee Street, Avon, New York. A funeral service will immediately follow the calling hours at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Private interment.
