Robert H. French Obituary (1935

Robert H. French Avon – December 14, 2025 at age 90. He is survived by his children Randy (Debbie) French, Rick French (Marcia Campbell), Bryan (Marion) French, Steve French (Susanna Cordts); sisters, Carol DiGaetano, Linda Overholt, brother, Alan Overholt; grandchildren Keagan, Kiana, Cameron, Anika, Jacob, Noah French; greatgrandchild Aspen French. Bob was predeceased by his wife Sheila French; brother Thomas French. He was a past member of the Avon and Rochester Rotary Club. He was President and CEO of Hatch Leonard Markin & Shaw Insurance group before his retirement. Bob at one time was an active member of the Avon Boy Scout Troop #26. Bob French lived by the scout oath “On my honor, I will do my best”. He lived a life of faith and loyalty. It was obvious to those who knew him that his word was his bond. He cherished the “Old Man Patrol” with friendships that stood the test of time. They took trips every year for the last 50 years, including last year.“To do my duty to God and my country.” He was quiet in his faith, but he put his trust in God. He volunteered as a scoutmaster for 15 years, volunteered at the ambulance and was a proud member of Rotary. “To help other people at all times.” Bob was a shining example of selfless service in the community and dedicated his life in the service to others. “To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight” He lived a lifestyle that was healthy, physical, and always honest. Bob French gave his children and grandchildren love for adventure, outdoors, and traveling the world for a better understanding of each of us. His curiosity, sense of being a bit uncomfortable at times, and his love of family were his steadfast beliefs. And like the mighty oak tree that has fallen in the forest. It nourishes the soul and many creatures, so too his legacy and love for the outdoors will shine on in those left. The stories we tell for years to come will be a testament to him. He has taught all of us how to live “A Great Story”. Service and interment will be held at the convenience of the family. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date to be announced. Private interment Avon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Avon Boy Scout Troop # 26, 5278 Lake Road, Avon, or the Avon Rotary Club, PO Box 1, Avon, NY 14414 in his memory.
