Paul O. Tagliaferri Obituary (1947

Avon- March 8, 2026 at age 78. He is survived by his wife Jamie (Ross) Tagliaferri; Children Anthony (Alyson) Tagliaferri, Jessica (Tagliaferri) Hardy; Sister Mary Lou Bouchard; Brothers-in-Law James (Dawn) Ross, Greg Stone; Grandchildren Adrianna Hardy, Brody Tagliaferri; Nieces Christine Wells, Kate Gums; Nephews Don (Linda) Wells, Dave (Jackie) Wells, Steve Wells, Kurt (Heidi) Bouchard; Nephew-in-Law Randy Harper; many loving Cousins, Great-Nieces & Nephews, Great-Great Nieces & Nephews, countless friends and his brothers-in-arms of the American Legion. Paul was predeceased by Parents Orlando (Louise) Tagliaferri; Sister Carol Wells; Cousin SGT Paul Richard Fusco. Paul (“Tag”) graduated from Avon Central in 1966 and served as a U.S. Mail carrier for 30 years following his term of service with the U.S. Navy. He enlisted in 1966 during the Vietnam War era and was assigned to Helicopter Combat Support 2 in Lakehurst, NJ. He served aboard the U.S.S. Franklin D. Roosevelt in the Mediterranean from 1967-1968. Upon his return to the U.S., he was assigned to the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy (CVA-67) as a Helicopter Search and Rescue Technician through 1969. Following that, he participated in "Operation Springboard” in Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico. He was honorably discharged in 1970 and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Tag loved his family, his friends and his Country and he spent his entire life in service of all three. He served as a Livingston County Election Inspector and was active in the American Legion for over 41 years, having held all positions at the Avon American Legion Post 294. He is past Livingston County Commander, 7th & 8th District Commander and Vice Commander of the Department of New York. Friends may call from 4-7p Sunday, March 15th at Stephenson-Daugherty Funeral Home, Avon. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00p Monday, March 16th at St. Agnes Church, Avon. Military Honors & Burial at St. Agnes Cemetery, Avon. Reception immediately following will be held at the Avon Veterans Hall, American Legion Post 294, Avon.
