Howard K. "Corky" Schlenker Obituary (1936

Howard K. Schlenker "Corky" West Bloomfield - Corky passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021at age 85 with his family by his side. He is survived by his sons, Edward (Katy), James (Robie), John (Krista) Schlenker; his beautiful grandchildren, Hanna, Julia, Jakob, Josh Schlenker; sisters, Janice Milbaum, Carol Parsons, Sandy (Ronald) Parrish many nieces, nephews, cousins and his cat Pumpkin. He is predeceased by his son David and the love of his life his wife, Sandy (Bortle) Schlenker. He will always be remembered for his hard work and farming the many acres in Bloomfield. Corky loved to travel in his camper, early years with his sons and later years with his wife, Sandy. They would enjoy riding bikes on the shores of Jekyll Island in Georgia, canoeing the lakes in the Adirondacks. They were also a part of the ski patrol and instructors at Ski Valley till the late 80's. Corky was very good with his hands, he could fix anything. From working on tractors to rebuilding a 1936 Ford Coupe and a 1948 Ford Pickup. Always had a big heart for animals. He enjoyed feeding the birds and any other critters that showed up at his backyard. His love for his family is what Corky cherished most. Picnics back at the pond with them, get togethers at the house and just sharing stories around the kitchen table. He'll be forever missed and in our hearts. Family and friends are invited to his graveside service Friday, August 6, 2021 at 2 PM at the Millers Corners Cemetery, Ionia. There will be a Celebration of Corky's life on Sunday, August 15, 2021 from 1 - 5 PM at the Schlenker Farm at 8424 Routes 5 &20 in Bloomfield. Come enjoy a Tom Wahl's burger and root beer float.
