He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Joan; children, Steven (Jennifer) Smith, PhD, Sharon (David) Stafford, Thomas (Tara) Smith, Teresa (John) Smith; 6 grandchildren, Emily, Daniel, Sara, Matthew, Kathleen, Alyssa; sister, Celia Ayers; sisters-in-law, Margaret and Lucy Smith; several nieces and nephews and his "pick-up" dog Lady.

Friends may call Monday 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Stephenson-Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 350 Genesee St., Avon. His Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday 9AM at St. Agnes Church, Avon. Interment, St. Agnes Cemetery.
