Born on June 5, 1955 in Syracuse, NY to Donald and Patricia Snyder, Diane graduated from Baker High School in Baldwinsville, NY and received a B.A. in Secondary Social Studies and Elementary Education from SUNY Potsdam in 1977. She spent her professional career helping others, first as a trainer for Wausau Insurance Companies, then in human resources for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and Bank of New York in Syracuse, and then in human resources for the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY.
A lifelong lover of music and the theater, Diane met her husband Bruce while performing in community theater with the Clay Towne Players in Liverpool, NY in 1981. They both also performed with the Salt City Center for the Performing Arts. Diane and Bruce married in November of 1983. Diane continued her passion for music through the church, where she was very active in the church music programs at First Presbyterian Church in Liverpool and Avon United Methodist Church in Avon, where she also taught Sunday school. Recently, as her battle with Alzheimer’s progressed, she enjoyed singing with Bruce in the Eastman School of Music ENCORE Chorus in Rochester, a group created for people with memory issues and their care providers.
Diane will be greeted in the afterlife by her parents, Donald and Patricia, and is survived by her husband of 42 years, Bruce, her children, Benjamin and Madison, her siblings, Steven (Sandy) Mott, Michael (Karen) Mott and Kathy (Carl) Iglesias, and her grandchildren who knew her as Nana, Johnathan, Giavonna, Giuliana, and Lorenzo. Known for her dazzling smile, her angelic singing voice, her sharp humor, and her fantastic hugs, Diane was deeply loved, and now even more deeply missed.
A remembrance and memorial service for Diane will be held at Avon United Methodist Church in 130 Genesee St, Avon, NY on Saturday, September 12 at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) in her honor.
