Carol Spiotti

Our family is heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Carol Ann
(Derleth-Codding) Spiotti, who passed away suddenly at Highland Hospital on June 12,
2026, at the age of 90. She suffered a traumatic fall causing a heart attack as well as a
broken hip. She ultimately passed away from Cardiogenic Shock. She was a woman of
quiet fortitude throughout her life and proved this yet again in her final hours. We will
forever be amazed by her strength of character.

Carol was born at home on January 2, 1936, in Rochester, NY. She is predeceased by
her parents, August “Gus” and Alice Derleth. Brothers Clayton (Antoinette) Derleth, and
Robert (Laurel) Derleth. Sisters June (Karl) Kingsley, and Mildred (James) Lynch.
Niece, Susan Derleth and Nephew, Ronald Lynch.

She is survived by her children, Mitchell (Pam Fattore) Codding, Michael (Darlene)
Codding and Stacy (Scott) Tarbox. Grandchildren Jess Kelly, David Tarbox, Sarah
(Brad) Williams and Joshua Codding. Great Grandchildren, Olive, Dylan, Sloan and
Alberta (Birdy) Kelly and Corey, Cameron, Caleb, Christian, Isabella and Savannah
Williams. One Brother, James (Arletta) Derleth, many Nieces and Nephews whom she
loved dearly. Carol cherished her friends, neighbors and especially her honorary
daughter, Kathy (Richard) Greene.

Carol was an avid reader and book lover. Her collection was large and precious to her.
She loved her family, had an especially close relationship with her Grandson, David,
whom she enjoyed having her picture taken with regularly to see herself shrink as he
grew taller. She collected many things, but snowmen were her favorite. She became a
huge Buffalo Bills fan later in life, donning all her Bills gear even when she watched
alone in her apartment. Carol kept a spotless home even at 90 years young. Her wish
was to have grown up on a farm as she loved horses and her life in the Genesee Valley.
She enjoyed a peaceful life with her beautiful family.

A celebration of life/visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, July 29th at Flaherty’s
Three Flags Inn, 60 W. Main Street, Honeoye Falls, NY from noon til 3pm. Carol was a
very proud Avonite and as such in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be
made to the Avon Free Library,143 Genesee St, Avon, NY 14414 (avonfreelibrary.org) in
her honor.
