Obituary for Tammy Jo Anderson (House)

Tammy Jo Anderson

Avon – July 5, 2020 at age 55. She is survived by her loving husband of 18 years, James D. Anderson; son, Alex Anderson; mother, Linda (Wheeler) House; brother, Charles House, Jr.; Several nieces, nephews and loved ones.

A graduate of Palmyra Macedon Schools and Ashland College, Tammy spent many years working in different areas of the hospitality industry in California, Florida, South Carolina and New York. She found her true passion after marrying her husband and moving to a farm in the country. With her entrepreneurial spirit driving her, she first created a successful organic vegetable CSA before converting a gambrel roof barn into an event venue where she hosted many weddings and other joyous events. Finally, the purchase and adaptation of a large historic home into a bed and breakfast fulfilled her life-long dream of being an innkeeper. Tammy was a member of Avon Lioness, Avon Garden Club, Central Presbyterian Church, and Livingston County Chamber of Commerce.

Tammy’s warmth and kindness were touchstones for her family and many friends. She freely shared laughter, hugs, encouragement, and advice, approaching life with joy and positivity. She bravely fought a particularly egregious type of breast cancer for 17 months, exhibiting grace, peace and gratitude throughout.

A celebration of her life will be held Friday, July 10, 2020 at 7 pm at the family home (Kindred Ground Farm) 2393 Pole Bridge Road, Avon. (Please wear a mask at the service) In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Metaplastic Breast Cancer Global Alliance at www.mpbcalliance.org, Livingston County Hospice at 2 Murray Hill Drive Mt. Morris, NY 14510, or your local Humane Society.
