Obituary for George L. Veach

Our beloved Dad and apostolic father in the faith, Rev. George L. Veach of Rochester, NY, victoriously passed into the presence of the Lord—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—on February 26, 2020. Rev. Veach was born to Alva and Goldie Veach (Conley) on January 7, 1931, in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Rev. George L. Veach was early called into the ministry and preached his first sermon at eleven years of age. He met and wed the love of his life, Rev. Ruth Spencer Veach, at Elim Bible Institute, Hornell, NY, in 1949. Their ministry together spanned three continents and included pastorates in the eastern coast of the North America; Cardenas, Cuba; and various cities of Argentina, Chile, and Peru in South America.

Rev. Veach served as a global missionary statesman equipping leaders. His posts included the Home Secretary of Elim Fellowship (EF), Lima, NY; Vice-President of EF; appointed Elder to the Latin community of EF; and faithfully served the founders and his in-laws, Rev. Ivan and Minnie Spencer of Elim Bible Institute & College and Elim Fellowship, Lima, NY. He served as President of Worldwide Christian Fellowship, Atlanta, GA. Rev. Veach served in the foundational years of Iglesia Evangelica Betel, Cuba, with Sixto and Ruth Lopez, founders. He also served the founder, Rev. Sam Sorenson, of the Movimiento Cristiano y Misionero, Argentina, and worked with the founder of World MAP, Prescott, AZ, Rev. Ralph Mahoney, in training national leaders all over the world. His apostolic and prophetic office was embraced in many countries, including Argentina, Bangladesh, Chile, Cuba, Ecuador, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Mozambique, Peru, the Philippines, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, and Uganda. Fluent in Spanish as well as English, Rev. Veach was an endeared father of the global Latin community and is affectionately celebrated to this day.

Predeceased by his devoted wife, Ruth, Rev. George L. Veach is survived by his beloved children, Judy (Richard) Williams, Dale (Sandy) Veach, Rev. Nancy (Rev. Jeff) Clark, Mary (Rev. Alan) Schrader, and Edie (John) Mourey; 10 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Louise (Don) Shields, Doris Aills, and Donna Castle; and brothers, Rev. Richard Veach, and Ron (Barbara) Conley.
